#Minäopetan latinaa teologeille (2007-8, 2020-21).

Väitöskirjassani #minätutkin antiikin roomalaisia nukkumiskäytäntöjä ymmärtääksemme paremmin minkälaiset kulttuuriset, sosiaaliset ja historialliset tekijät säätelevät nukkumista fysiologian ohella.

Post-doc -hankkeeni keskittyy antiikin aistiympäristöjen tutkimukseen. Myös aistimiseen vaikuttavat biologian ohella erilaiset kulttuuriset tekijät, ja näitä on aistihistoriassa alettu selvittää viime aikoina. Oma työni keskittyy ikävinä koettujen aistimusten tutkimiseen.

    • Project: Making sense(s) of Roman neighbourhoods investigates the experiences of coexistence in ancient Roman quarters by exploring how the inhabitants of Roman cities perceived their immediate neighbourhoods: the relationships with neighbours as well as the sounds, smells and visibility within a city block (insula)
  • 2018 (and 2020) Researcher in Open data project by the Finnish Institutes abroad.
  • I did my PhD at the University of Helsinki in Doctoral programme for history and cultural heritage, at The Department of World Cultures (Institutum Classicum) and received Doctoral degree in 2016.
  • Interests, other than sensory studies and ”the dormant third of our lives”:
    • Pompeii, Herculaneum, Rome, domestic space, sociology of sleep, (Neo-)Latin
      I have acquainted myself with Pompeian studies especially by working as a research assistant in Pompeii with the Finnish project (Expeditio Pompeiana Universitatis Helsingiensis) and in neo-Latin by working as a news reader for the Nuntii Latini – News in Latin, which is a weekly review of world news in Classical Latin, produced by the Finnish Broadcasting Company
  • Other interests include good food and wine, books and movies, and especially having fun with my dogs Pixie and Tesla!
